Welcome to Prime Time, the South Newton Middle School Math Department’s weekly newsletter! The goal is to spark fun and engaging conversations about math at home. Each week, you'll find exciting math challenges that students can solve with their families, making math a part of everyday life. Prime Time will also inform you about upcoming events and share helpful resources to support students' learning. We hope this newsletter gets everyone thinking, solving, and talking about math together!

Congratulations to SNMS 7th Grader Tzipporah Holloway! INDIANAPOLIS - (October 15, 2024) – Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales extends a heartfelt congratulations to the winners of the 2024 Indiana Secretary of State “I Voted” Sticker Design Contest. This contest was an opportunity for children across the state to get involved in the election process. Secretary Morales encouraged creativity and civic engagement by challenging Hoosier students to design “I Voted” stickers that will be handed out to voters at the polls in November. There were nearly 1,000 creative sticker designs submitted from Hoosier children across the state. “I am incredibly proud of the young Hoosiers who participated in the “I Voted” Sticker Design Contest. Creativity and enthusiasm for our election process shine through each design, showcasing that the future of our state is bright. Congratulations to our winners – you’ve made a positive mark on Indiana’s elections with your artwork,” said Diego Morales, Indiana Secretary of State. The 2024 Sticker Contest Winners are: K-3rd Grade: 1st place, Iris Lopez, Alexander Hamilton Elementary School. 2nd place, Noelle Bartal, Batesville Intermediate School. 3rd place, Liam Bruce, Maple Glen Elementary School. 4th-8th Grade: 1st place, Anna Rose Worthington, Zionsville Middle School, 2nd place. Tzipporah Holloway, South Newton Middle School. 3rd place, Melanie Muñoz, Silver Creek Elementary School. 9th-12th Grade: 1st place, Ryli Skinner, West Washington Jr-Sr High School. 2nd place, Ava Sponsler, Mooresville High School. 3rd place, Tori Zook, Mooresville High School. Secretary Morales is inviting first place winners from each age group and their parents to visit their Indiana Statehouse on October 29th from 10 am-12 pm to further recognize them. Media is welcome to attend. Second and third place designs will be displayed on the Indiana Secretary of State website as well as featured on social media. All top three winners for each category will receive a certificate.

Tickets are now available for the South Newton Drama Department's dinner theatre/audience interaction production of “The Crime of the Century.” Please visit https://southnewtonhs.seatyourself.biz/ to order tickets. Tickets are $40 per person and include dinner (soup, salad, an Italian buffet, coffee, tea/lemonade, dessert, and tip) and the performance at the Downtown Lounge and Trattoria in Kentland. All times are Central. Congratulations to our Lady Rebels for capturing the Volleyball Regional Title! Please consider traveling to Frankfort to watch them compete against Culver HS at 11:00a (CST)!

Next week is SNMS Fall Homecoming! Dress-up days and activities during Homecoming Week will count towards the spirit stick. Class rankings will be announced each day with the winning grade announced during the Pep Session on Friday. The MS dress code must still be followed during dress-up days.

Thank you Averie, Kyleigh, Damon, and Tinley for helping show our support for Corporal Schreiber and all of our law enforcement officers. Tomorrow, Thursday, September 4, we invite all students and staff to show their support by wearing blue! On Friday, students may wear a hat of their choice for a free will monetary donation. All money will be donated to the fund supporting the Schreiber family.
