Meet our magical little Merlin! ✨🐾

At just 8 weeks old, Merlin officially began his journey TODAY to become our full-time facility therapy dog! He’s an Australian Labradoodle (expected to be around 35 lbs.), a breed specifically developed for therapy work—and he’s already proving he’s something special.

Merlin recently passed his temperament test with a near-perfect score—something that rarely happens. While a score of 170 qualifies a dog for therapy work and 190 is considered exceptional, Merlin scored an incredible 195! 🌟

Not only is he talented, but he’s also one of the rarest coat colors produced by his breeders—making him just as unique as he is gifted. He truly lives up to his magical name!

Thanks to the support of a grant, Merlin will be joining our schools this October as our newest facility therapy dog. ❤️🖤

Thank you for your patience as we searched for the perfect match for our school. We can’t wait to see the positive impact Merlin will have on our students, staff, and community!

Today, we celebrate the dedicated school bus drivers who safely transport our students each and every day. Rain or shine, you are there with a steady hand, a watchful eye, and a friendly greeting to start and end the school day.

Elementary School Supply Kits will once again be available for purchase for the 2026–27 school year! 🎉

💻 All orders must be placed online by May 22, 2026
🏫 Supply kits will be delivered and ready for pick-up at the school during Kick-Off Night on August 11, 2026

This afternoon, a medical emergency occurred on CR 50 E approximately one mile north of SN’s campus. The situation required a Lifeline helicopter to land on school property.
While this incident did not involve SN school personnel, we wanted to be proactive and let our community know that our staff and students are safe.

South Newton schools plan to run on time on Monday, April 20, since power has been restored to most locations.

Please be advised that at the time of this message, 4pm Central Time, Sunday, April 19, County road 50 East, between 1200 South and 1300 South is closed due to down utility poles from the weekend storm that affected our area. Please seek alternate routes and allow extra time for travel.

Any students arriving a little late due to road closures may be exempt from being tardy due to the current conditions.

Our South Newton family safety is very important to us, so please be alert and watch for any road closures and debris that may still be on roadways when traveling in the morning.
